A Real Look — Not a Walk-Around

A dealer's "checked out" sticker isn't an inspection. We put eyes (and instruments) on the things that actually cost money if they're wrong.

  • Engine scan for codes, history, and active faults
  • Compression and blow-by check where applicable
  • Cooling system and oil condition assessment
  • Transmission and clutch inspection — manual, automatic, or AMT
  • Driveline check — U-joints, carrier bearings, differentials
  • Brake measurement — shoes, drums, pads, push-rod stroke
  • Air system leak-down and dryer condition
  • Suspension and steering wear check — kingpins, tie rods, springs
  • Frame, crossmember, and structural rust/crack assessment
  • Wheel-end, hub, and seal condition; tire measurement on every position
  • Electrical and lighting check — including ABS scan on tractor and trailer
  • Fifth wheel, kingpin, and coupling wear (trailers and tractors)
  • Cab and interior condition notes
  • Written report with photos and a real "what you're looking at" cost summary

The Things Sellers Don't Mention

Most used trucks have some surprises. The job of an inspection is to find them before money changes hands.

Hidden Engine Codes

Active or pending faults cleared right before the sale. We scan history, not just current codes, and tell you what's been recurring.

Brake Life Is Almost Gone

Truck "passes safety" with brakes at the legal minimum. That's a brake job you're paying for next month, not next year.

Frame Cracks or Structural Issues

Frame rail cracks, broken crossmembers, or sketchy past repairs. Structural issues are deal-breakers — we'll show you exactly where, in writing.

Worn Driveline & Clutch

Slipping clutch, end-of-life U-joints, or a tired transmission. Easy to hide on a short test drive, easy to find with the right inspection.

DPF & Emissions Surprises

Plugged DPF, deleted emissions (which is illegal), or a truck that won't regen. Big-money issues we catch on the scan.

Tires & Wheel Ends Past It

Mismatched tires, worn-out wheel seals, or hub bearings on borrowed time. Looks fine, costs thousands.

Bring the Truck, Get the Truth

Four steps from "thinking about buying" to "know what I'm signing for."

  1. 01

    Schedule

Call us with the year, make, model, and where the truck is. We'll book a time — and yes, you can bring a truck from a dealer in for a check.

  2. 02

    Inspect

Full mechanical inspection — scan, measure, and visually check every system. Usually 2–3 hours depending on the truck.

  3. 03

    Report

Written report with photos and clear "now / soon / later" cost notes. We walk you through it so you understand what you're seeing.

  4. 04

    Decide

You use the report to negotiate, walk away, or buy with confidence. No upsell, no pressure — our job ends when the report is in your hands.

Pre-Purchase Inspections — Quick Answers

Can I bring a truck from a dealer for an inspection?

Yes — and you should. Most honest dealers and private sellers are fine with you taking the truck to an independent shop for an inspection. If a seller refuses, that's an answer in itself.

How long does an inspection take?

Usually 2–3 hours, depending on the truck and what we find. We'd rather take an extra hour and catch something than rush you into a bad deal.

What does it cost?

Pricing depends on the type of vehicle (tractor only, tractor and trailer, etc.) and how deep you want us to go. Call with the truck details and we'll quote you straight — it's a small price compared to the cost of buying wrong.

Is a safety inspection the same thing?

No. A safety inspection checks whether the truck meets the minimum legal standard right now. A pre-purchase inspection checks the real condition and gives you a "what's coming" picture — brake life, transmission health, frame condition, etc.

Will you tell me to walk away if it's bad?

Absolutely. If a truck has serious issues, you'll hear it from us straight. We'd rather lose the repair work than have you stuck with a money pit.

Thinking of Buying? Let's Look First.

Call and you'll talk to a real mechanic, not a service writer. We'll tell you what we'd look for before you bring it in.
